There are several applications of hydraulic type cylinders, both in industrial use cases and other general-purpose. Industrial use cases for hydraulic type cylinders include backhoes, dozers, loaders, graders, excavators, dump trucks, etc. Other non-industrial usages include wheelchair lifts, heavy machinery, gym equipment, etc. Research reveals that the hydraulic cylinder market is poised to expand significantly in the coming years. It is mainly due to its many beneficial features across the end-use industry.

Several hydraulic type cylinders are mainly varying because of their applications across industries. They vary in several parameters, including the wall thickness of end caps or tubes, temperature, connecting procedures, operating pressure, and material. Here, we shall note down a few types of Milwaukee cylinders that will help you choose.

Single Acting Cylinders

These cylinders are known as single-acting cylinders as their head-end ports work only in a single direction. There are two types of single-acting cylinders

  • Spring Return – The most common type of single acting Milwaukee cylinder that is used widely
  • Spring Extend

The piston rod is extended and the liquid is pumped inside the cylinder barrel in this type of cylinder. Draining the fluid from the barrel to the reservoir in the next step requires external energy.

Double Acting Cylinders

These types of Milwaukee cylinders are fitted with two different ports that control the flow of liquids and help in two-way movement. There are two different types of double-acting cylinders as well.

  • Synchronous Types
  • Differential Types

Ports at both the rod end and the head make pumping fluid significantly easier. The piston rod gets extended when the liquid is pumped towards the head end. In contrast, the piston rod is retracted when the fluid is pumped towards the rod end of the hydraulic cylinder. Double-acting cylinders are best used to raise and lower devices.

Telescopic Cylinders

These types of Milwaukee cylinders are fitted with more than five tubings. As each tubing is nested within one another, the diameter of the staged or nested tubing keeps getting lesser. Telescopic cylinders can be both single or double-acting and are pretty versatile.

Welded Rod Cylinders

These Milwaukee cylinders are mainly suitable for mobile applications due to several specific features like duty cycle, internal bearings length, and compact construction, making them an ideal choice. However, the assembly and disassembly process for the welded rod cylinders are pretty complicated as the end caps are directly connected with the barrel.

Tie Rod Cylinders

Tie rod type Milwaukee cylinders are commonly used across industries and manufacturing cases. Some of the main benefits of this cylinder type include easy repair, assembly and overall maintenance. The end caps of tie rod cylinders are done with threaded steel rods. These tie rod end caps are highly useful in preventing fluid leakages.
